PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beast Nukka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Raines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beast Nukka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Raines!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nukka fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Raines to the ground. Nukka is now in Raines's guard.
Nukka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Raines wants to sweep but no luck.
Nukka throws a strike but Raines rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Raines sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nukka's guard.

Raines is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Nukka on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nukka tries to get out of the position.

Nukka wants to control but Raines is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Raines is looking to advance position but Nukka won't allow it.
Raines works his way into side control.
A lull in the action here.

Raines tries for a kimura but Nukka is defending well.
Raines is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
You can see the frustration on Nukka's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nukka is looking for a sweep.

Raines is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nukka is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Nukka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Raines wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nukka stops Raines from passing to mount.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Raines slows the pace down.

Raines looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Raines advances to full mount.

Nukka is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Poor strikes thrown by Raines there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Raines looking to control but Nukka is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Nukka tries to hold on but Raines pushes him away.
Raines controlling the position easily from mount.
Nukka is looking to get to half guard.

Raines controlling his opponent.
Nukka wants to control but Raines is having none of it.

Nukka defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Raines.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raines takes Nukka's back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Nice takedown defense from Nukka. No joy for Raines on that attempt.
Beast Nukka is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nukka is nestled in close to Raines, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Nukka tries to pass the half guard into mount. Raines knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Nukka perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Nukka wants to take a breather but Raines is having none of it.
Raines regains full guard. Nicely done.
Raines is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Nukka is trying to control but can't.
Nukka is looking to improve his position.
Nukka has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Raines is working away from the top position though.

Nukka looking for a kimura from the bottom but Raines passes into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nukka is trying to get back to his feet.
Charles Raines has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nukka is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raines postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nukka looks a forlorn figure.

Raines advances to mount.
Raines tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nukka wants to hold on but Raines pushes him away.

Raines has hold of Nukka's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nukka manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Nukka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Raines on the ground.

Raines goes for an armbar but Nukka turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Nukka.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Raines showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Raines misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nukka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nukka looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Raines's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Nukka shoots in and gets a takedown into Raines's guard.

Nukka wants to control from the top but Raines keeps moving.

Nukka might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Raines punching from mount but Nukka doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Raines wants to take his opponent's back but Nukka doesn't allow it.
Nukka is trying to reverse the position but instead Raines has taken his back - oops!
Nukka breaks Raines's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Raines is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Raines is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Raines pushes Nukka off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Horrible takedown by Raines or perhaps it was just good defense by Nukka which made him look bad.

Raines manages to get back to half guard.

Raines kicks off Nukka and gets to his feet.
Nukka leaves Raines with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Raines has a takedown stuffed.
Beast Nukka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Raines.

Nukka fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Raines to the ground. Nukka is now in Raines's guard.

Raines is pulling down on Nukka's head. It's preventing any offense from Nukka, at least for the moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Raines bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nukka's guard.

Raines stands and throws Nukka's legs to the side, diving into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Raines in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Charles Raines.
I've got Raines winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
