PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Jericho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Mousaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jericho kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is break the walls down. Mousaki has chosen I'M Back as his entrance music. Chris Jericho had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Jericho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kenji Mousaki!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jericho keeps Mousaki at a distance using the push kick.
Jericho misses with a body kick.
Jericho throws a sloppy head kick and Mousaki moves out of range easily.
Jericho looks for a takedown but Mousaki sprawls well.

Jericho closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jericho throws a strike but Mousaki avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Mousaki manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mousaki with a couple of short strikes.
Mousaki lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jericho keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Mousaki looking to secure an arm triangle but Jericho defends it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jericho is desperately trying to improve his position but Mousaki has a good base and remains in mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mousaki lands a nice shot to the head.
Jericho is working to get back to half guard.
You get the feeling that Jericho really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Mousaki trying to control but Jericho is having none of it.

Mousaki stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Mousaki shoots in for a takedown but Jericho shows good takedown defense.

and Mousaki counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Mousaki is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Jericho looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jericho tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Mousaki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mousaki is looking for a kimura but Jericho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mousaki to get the leverage.
Mousaki is tying to control. Jericho wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Mousaki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mousaki lands a nice short elbow.

Mousaki wants to work for an arm triangle but Jericho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jericho might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jericho won't allow Mousaki to pass to mount.
Mousaki moves into full mount! Jericho won't be happy about that!

Mousaki has control of Jericho's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jericho regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jericho tries to get back to half guard but can't.
A nice elbow there by Mousaki.

Mousaki stands up from mount. Strange move.
Mousaki finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Jericho checks a low kick from Mousaki.

and Mousaki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jericho won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Jericho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jericho tries to escape but Mousaki is in control.

Mousaki has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jericho is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mousaki yanks on the arm and Jericho is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mousaki.
