Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jason Rudd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antero Wursty!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wursty circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jason Rudd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rudd wants to clinch but Wursty slips to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rudd tries to clinch but Wursty is having none of it.
Wursty shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rudd counters with a single leg into guard. Wursty didn't expect that.
Rudd has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Rudd.

Rudd throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wursty tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rudd is in Wursty's guard.

Rudd is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wursty is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wursty has escaped and now he's on top!

Rudd had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wursty defends it easily.

Rudd is adopting a defensive guard.
Wursty is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Let's hope that Wursty has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Wursty shoots for a double leg takedown but Rudd sprawls well. He's pushed Wursty's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wursty is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rudd sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Rudd has Wursty pressed against the cage, preventing Wursty from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Still in the clinch, Wursty scores with a nice short uppercut.

Rudd turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rudd manages to end up in side control.
Jason Rudd overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rudd thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rudd is looking to take a break and control but Wursty is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rudd is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wursty is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wursty takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Wursty tries to buck Rudd off but Rudd is having none of it.

Rudd lands a decent elbow from side control.
Wursty regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rudd's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Wursty keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rudd is pressing down on Wursty's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wursty is holding on for now.
Rudd with the ground and pound but Wursty uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rudd drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wursty looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wursty looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wursty!

Wursty wants to control for a moment but Rudd uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Wursty is looking to take a break and control but Rudd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rudd is trying to control but Wursty passes into side control!
You can see the frustration on Rudd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wursty slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Rudd.
Wursty sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Rudd is looking to improve his position but Wursty isn't that keen on the idea.
Rudd wants to control but Wursty is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jason Rudd will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Wursty looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rudd is fending him off so far but Wursty persists. Nope, Rudd circles away and we're back to standing.
