PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shunsuke Mizuno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rambo Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shunsuke Mizuno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rambo Kawajiri!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mizuno connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mizuno leaves Kawajiri with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kawajiri shoots in looking for a takedown but Mizuno manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kawajiri's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Mizuno counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Kawajiri shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mizuno's guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rambo Kawajiri wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mizuno throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kawajiri sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kawajiri closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mizuno accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kawajiri controls Mizuno momentarily but Mizuno frees himself.

Kawajiri working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mizuno doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mizuno manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kawajiri has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mizuno can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kawajiri is looking to clinch but Mizuno is avoiding it.

Kawajiri looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mizuno with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kawajiri wants to finish this one by submission but Mizuno is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kawajiri.

Mizuno turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Kawajiri off and cradles Mizuno's limp body as Kawajiri celebrates with his corner.
