The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares misses with an uppercut

and Yashigawa counters with a shoot takedown. Soares fights it but they end up in guard.
Yashigawa trying to control the position from guard on top but Soares is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yashigawa is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Yashigawa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Soares on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Soares tries to get out of the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Koyomuki Yashigawa hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Soares looks to throw the jab but Yashigawa is out of range.
Yashigawa moves out of range of the strikes.

Soares displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Yashigawa throws out the jab.
Ricardo Soares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yashigawa lands with a cross.
Soares slaps away a takedown attempt from Yashigawa, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Yashigawa looks for a takedown but Soares sprawls well.
Yashigawa scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Yashigawa avoids the body shot from Soares.
Soares throws a jab but it's blocked by Yashigawa.
Yashigawa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ricardo Soares has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Koyomuki Yashigawa.

Soares connects with a good right hand that stumbles Yashigawa. Yashigawa circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Yashigawa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Soares feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Yashigawa sprawling to the canvas! Yashigawa rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Soares finish him?!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Soares throws a nice looking combination but Yashigawa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Soares throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yashigawa walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Soares! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!
