Cornell comes to the cage accompanied by Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen. Tommy Cornell could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Uncle Chuck's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tommy Cornell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Uncle Chuck!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornell keeps the fight on the outside.

Chuck closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cornell to the mat! Cornell manages to get full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Chuck controlling from the top position.
It looks like Chuck might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Chuck trying to control the position from guard on top but Cornell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cornell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cornell really is a fat lump.
Cornell keeping moving, preventing Chuck from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Uncle Chuck wasn't active enough on the ground.

Chuck closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cornell did well to prevent Chuck getting side control.
Cornell is trying to control but Chuck manages to pass to mount!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chuck controlling the position easily from mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chuck wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Chuck wants to control the pace but Cornell is squirming around nicely.
Cornell tries to control the position but Chuck now has his back.
Cornell breaks Chuck's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Cornell trying to control the position from guard on top but Chuck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cornell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chuck is trying to keep Cornell in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Chuck working for a triangle but Cornell defends it easily.
Chuck trying to control the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chuck is on top in guard.
Chuck trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cornell's guard.
Chuck trying to control the position from guard on top but Cornell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chuck got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cornell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chuck has managed to get both his arms back between Cornell's legs - danger averted.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cornell controls Chuck momentarily but Chuck frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cornell is on top in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chuck can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cornell postures up and lands a big shot to Chuck's brow.

Cornell is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chuck is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chuck has escaped and now he's on top!
Chuck would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Chuck looks gassed!

Chuck has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cornell to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Chuck is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cornell pulls down on the head and he's put Chuck to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tommy Cornell!
Tommy Cornell bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
