Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Gaines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Fred Gaines has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fedor Pain!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pain scores with a takedown into Gaines's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaines is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Pain lands a big shot there that rocks Gaines but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Oh Gaines is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pain wants to control the pace but Gaines is squirming around nicely.

Gaines tries to hold on but Pain pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fedor Pain dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gaines misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Fred Gaines seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pain has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pain there as he acknowledges the shot.

Pain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pain lands a nice short elbow.

Pain is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Fedor Pain has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pain drops an elbow to the side of Gaines's head.

Pain is trying to work for a kimura but Gaines is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gaines tries to get to full guard but Pain has control of the leg.

Pain thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pain performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Pain seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gaines does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Pain passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gaines!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pain putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Pain looking to control and managing it successfully.
Gaines tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gaines slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Gaines is looking to control Pain's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gaines avoid being mounted?
Pain prevents Gaines from improving his position.
Pain wants to control but Gaines is keeping him busy.

Gaines wants to improve his position but Pain is controlling well.
Pain is looking to advance position but Gaines won't allow it.
Pain is thwarting Gaines's attempts to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Gaines throws a right and a left that Pain avoids nicely.
Gaines throws a leg kick but Pain checks it.

Fred Gaines is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pain fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gaines sprawls well initially but Pain persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gaines is trying to stand back up but Pain is controlling him
Gaines wants to control but Pain is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pain throwing shots but Gaines is blocking nicely.
Pain is thwarting Gaines's attempts to control the position.
Gaines is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pain's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pain's back!
Gaines is not going to allow Pain to sit and survive in this position.
Gaines biding his time, controlling Pain.

Fedor Pain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Gaines will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Gaines misses with a double jab.

Pain bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Pain landing a few strikes.

Pain connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gaines some visible discomfort.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pain misses with a head shot. Gaines uses the momentum to regain guard.
Pain postures up.
Pain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gaines is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pain is controlling him.
Pain wants to control from the top but Gaines keeps moving.
Pain slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gaines keeping moving, preventing Pain from controlling successfully.
Pain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gaines swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Pain counters by moving into the clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pain drags the fight down to the ground.
Pain manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pain lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Pain landing strikes from the mount.
Pain cracks Gaines with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gaines wants to try and get back to his feet.
Gaines is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Pain looking to secure an arm triangle but Gaines defends it well.
Pain looking to finish Gaines with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gaines!

Pain looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Pain has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pain trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pain controlling from the full mount.
Pain landing strikes from the mount and Gaines is in trouble!

Fred Gaines has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
