Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Igor Kotzlowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Jewa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Kotzlowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mario Jewa!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kotzlowski gets the takedown into side control.
Kotzlowski lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Kotzlowski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kotzlowski has hold of one of Jewa's legs. Jewa is fighting the takedown attempt but Kotzlowski gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kotzlowski postures up in Jewa's guard and throws a big left but Jewa blocks it.
Jewa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kotzlowski controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

No joy there for Kotzlowski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kotzlowski lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jewa backwards.
Jewa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kotzlowski smiles and moves away.

Kotzlowski lands a big shot there that rocks Jewa but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kotzlowski takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kotzlowski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jewa for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kotzlowski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jewa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kotzlowski unloads a knee to the mid-section. Jewa lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Kotzlowski turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kotzlowski manages to end up in side control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jewa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kotzlowski walks away with a smile on his face. Jewa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kotzlowski has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Jewa is trying to keep an underhook but Kotzlowski manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kotzlowski is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jewa!
Kotzlowski postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jewa looks a forlorn figure.
Kotzlowski has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jewa's face.

Kotzlowski closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kotzlowski gets control of Jewa's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kotzlowski will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Jewa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kotzlowski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kotzlowski moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jewa has worked his arm free - good work by Jewa!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kotzlowski tries to score with some ground and pound. Jewa controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
You can see the frustration on Jewa's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

and Kotzlowski counters by moving into the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kotzlowski is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jewa can't fight it off and eventually Kotzlowski manages to take the fight to the floor. Jewa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well Kotzlowski has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
