Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kreisi Bailaaja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Toms Gailitis!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gailitis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bailaaja misses with a leg kick
and Gailitis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Bailaaja closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gailitis won't allow Bailaaja to pass to mount.
Bailaaja seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kreisi Bailaaja just wasn't active enough.
Bailaaja fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gailitis is out of range.

Bailaaja throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bailaaja drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bailaaja tries to free his leg and advance position but Gailitis is retaining full guard.

Bailaaja is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gailitis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kreisi Bailaaja.
Bailaaja takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Toms Gailitis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bailaaja dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gailitis. That did some damage!

Gailitis gets caught flat footed, as Bailaaja shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bailaaja wants to control from the top but Gailitis keeps moving.

Bailaaja is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gailitis controls Bailaaja momentarily but Bailaaja frees himself.

Gailitis moves into the clinch.

Bailaaja has picked Gailitis up - he's going for a ride! Bailaaja dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bailaaja is pressing down on Gailitis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gailitis is holding on for now.

Bailaaja works his foot free and advances to mount.

Bailaaja wants to finish this one by submission but Gailitis is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bailaaja.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gailitis is trying to escape the mount but Bailaaja keeps good control and instead manages to take Gailitis's back.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Bailaaja feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gailitis pulls Bailaaja in close to his closed guard and prevents Bailaaja from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bailaaja wants to pass the guard but Gailitis is keeping the position.

Bailaaja not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

and Gailitis counters with a left to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gailitis enables Bailaaja to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gailitis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gailitis can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kreisi Bailaaja showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bailaaja, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
