Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chael Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Lazarus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sonnen comes to the cage accompanied by Iron Maiden Fear of the Dark . Lazarus has chosen puso as his entrance music. Jay Lazarus is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen shoots and misses
and Lazarus counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sonnen 's guard now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sonnen wants to get back to his feet but Lazarus is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lazarus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sonnen has momentary wrist control but Lazarus slips an elbow through the middle.
Lazarus wants to pass the guard but Sonnen is keeping the position.
Lazarus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sonnen . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sonnen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lazarus is controlling him.

Lazarus manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sonnen on his heels. He'll look to pass Sonnen 's guard now, I'm sure.

Lazarus wants to pass the guard but Sonnen is defending well.

Lazarus lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sonnen pushes Lazarus off and gets back to his feet.
Lazarus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lazarus scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lazarus throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Sonnen is pushing Lazarus's head away, looking to escape. Lazarus manages to hold on to the position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lazarus tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Lazarus is looking to take a break and control but Sonnen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lazarus misses with the ground and pound.
Sonnen bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Lazarus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sonnen wants to stand but Lazarus is controlling the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lazarus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lazarus throws a big right hand that misses.
Sonnen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lazarus trying to control but Sonnen is working from the bottom.

Lazarus wanted to stand there but Sonnen had control of the position.

Sonnen pushes Lazarus off and scrambles back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sonnen .
Lazarus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sonnen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lazarus has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Lazarus cracks Sonnen with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Lazarus tries to stand but Sonnen is controlling his head.
Lazarus is chipping away with strikes.
Sonnen pushes Lazarus away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lazarus gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sonnen throws Lazarus to one side and escapes!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Lazarus counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lazarus.

Lazarus drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sonnen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lazarus drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sonnen pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Lazarus counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lazarus stops Sonnen from getting back to his feet.
Lazarus wants to pass the guard but Sonnen is defending well.
Sonnen pushes Lazarus off looking to stand but Lazarus dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Lazarus dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lazarus gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Lazarus is trying to drag Sonnen to the mat but Sonnen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lazarus wants to take the fight to the mat but Sonnen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Chael Sonnen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Lazarus.
Sonnen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lazarus clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lazarus is trying to stand back up.

Sonnen is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lazarus has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
