PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins's entrance music is Fuck like a Beast. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Jenkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kurt Jones!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jenkins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jones striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Jenkins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jones seems a little lost for a moment, as Jenkins dominates the positioning.
Jenkins tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jenkins controls the position.
Jones is looking for a sweep.
Jenkins controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones tries to buck Jenkins off but Jenkins is having none of it.
Jenkins controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ken Jenkins has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Jenkins drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Jenkins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jenkins manages to get himself to full guard.
Jenkins lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
Jenkins lands a big shot there that rocks Jones but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jenkins takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jenkins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ken Jenkins wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Jenkins closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jenkins passes to full mount!
Jenkins cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jones in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Jenkins controlling the pace for now.
Jenkins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee warns Jones that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jenkins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jenkins lands a heavy elbow.
Jenkins controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jenkins quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Jenkins but it's paid off an Jones is forced to tap! Nice work by Jenkins.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ken Jenkins!
