PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pavel Pinigin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Payne's entrance music is Tony Montana- Future. A fine choice. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Pavel Pinigin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Daniel Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pavel Pinigin!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne throws a right hand that Pinigin ducks under and follows up with a left that Pinigin also avoids with ease.
Payne is breathing heavily.

Pinigin gets a takedown into half guard.

Pinigin postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Payne to stand up.
Payne moves away from the strike by Pinigin.
Pinigin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Payne as he jumps to the side.
Pinigin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Payne momentarily.

Pinigin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pinigin lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pinigin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Payne's guard.

Pinigin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Payne defends it well.

Pinigin wants to work for an arm triangle but Payne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Pinigin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Payne is just riding it out for now. Pinigin eventually gives up the hold.

Pinigin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Payne with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Payne has hold of Pinigin's hands but Pinigin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pinigin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Payne sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pavel Pinigin dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pinigin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Payne knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Payne tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pinigin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pinigin lands a nice forearm strike.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pinigin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Payne some visible discomfort.


Payne is rocked!

Payne on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Oh Payne is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Payne knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pinigin on the ground.
Pinigin is chipping away with strikes.
A big shot lands for Pinigin! That's hurt Payne! Will he recover? Pinigin fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pavel Pinigin!
