Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Alert to the armory. Frank Castle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank Castle!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castle throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cruz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Castle is in Cruz's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Castle trying to control the position from guard on top but Cruz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cruz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Castle might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cruz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Castle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Castle from controlling successfully.
Castle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cruz is proving hard to escape from.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Frank Castle.
Castle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cruz defends it nicely.
Castle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cruz but Cruz pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Cruz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cruz throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Castle to regain full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Castle can do anything to dispel that myth.
Castle looking to control.
Castle seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Castle hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Castle drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Castle is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cruz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mark Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Castle.

Castle gets the takedown into side control.

Castle misses with the ground and pound.
Cruz is trying to escape the position but Castle is controlling the position.

Castle looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Cruz wants to get back to his feet but Castle drags him back down.
Cruz is letting Castle control him for a moment.
Cruz is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Castle is looking to take a break and control but Cruz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Castle decides to stand back up.
Castle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cruz but Cruz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cruz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cruz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Castle circles away.

Castle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Castle dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Cruz misses with a series of wild punches.
Cruz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Castle avoids it really well and circles away.
Castle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cruz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Castle somewhat.

Cruz moves into the clinch.
Cruz is pressed up against the cage. Castle has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cruz down to the mat. Cruz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Castle displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cruz.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Castle fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cruz to the ground. Castle is now in Cruz's guard.
Castle wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Castle. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Castle slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Castle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cruz, who protects the arm well.
Castle advances to mount.
Castle thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Castle landing punches.
Castle raining down hammerfists from mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Castle is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cruz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cruz tries to reverse the position but Castle maintains control.
Castle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cruz is looking to escape.
Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cruz is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Castle lands with some strikes.

Cruz has left one of his arms exposed and Castle doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Cruz screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Castle!
