PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Sabre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Karelinokov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Dexter Sabre has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dexter Sabre seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dexter Sabre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fedor Karelinokov!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelinokov wants to clinch up but Sabre keeps it at a distance.
Sabre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Karelinokov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sabre misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Karelinokov moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Dexter Sabre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sabre tries to keep at a distance but Karelinokov has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sabre ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sabre no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Sabre can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Karelinokov controls the pace.

Karelinokov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sabre, up you get!

and Karelinokov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Sabre won't allow Karelinokov to pass to mount.

Karelinokov postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sabre to stand up.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sabre.
Karelinokov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Karelinokov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Karelinokov remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Karelinokov decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Sabre swats away the attempt to clinch by Karelinokov.
Sabre doesn't manage to clinch there - Karelinokov circles away.

Sabre rushes Karelinokov and presses him up against the cage.
Karelinokov wants to stall.

Sabre manages to break the clinch.
Sabre tries to close the distance and clinch but Karelinokov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sabre is breathing heavily.
Karelinokov tries a head kick but it misses.

Sabre closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sabre wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Karelinokov is looking to control Sabre's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Karelinokov avoid being mounted?
Sabre passes to side control.
Karelinokov is trying to control Sabre's posture but Sabre avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Karelinokov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Karelinokov can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Karelinokov fails with the takedown
and Sabre counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Sabre looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sabre seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karelinokov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sabre postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Karelinokov to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sabre tries to clinch up but Karelinokov circles away and keeps his distance.
Sabre doesn't manage to clinch there - Karelinokov circles away.
Karelinokov moves in looking to clinch but Sabre pushes him off.

Sabre forces Karelinokov back against the cage and clinches.

Karelinokov drags the fight down to the ground.

Sabre gets to his feet. Karelinokov looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Sabre has taken the fight to the clinch.

Karelinokov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sabre throws a head kick that misses.

Sabre drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sabre wants to pass the guard but Karelinokov is keeping the position.
Sabre has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sabre stands and steps away. Karelinokov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Karelinokov misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sabre.
Karelinokov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sabre is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sabre gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Karelinokov.

Sabre tightens his grip and picks Karelinokov up, before dumping him to the ground. Karelinokov manages to land in guard.

Sabre stands up and waves to Karelinokov to follow him.

Karelinokov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dexter Sabre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Karelinokov.

Karelinokov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sabre uses from the top position.

Karelinokov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sabre, who protects the arm well.
Sabre is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Karelinokov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Sabre blocks a head kick by Karelinokov.
Karelinokov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sabre pinned against the cage. Sabre gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Karelinokov gets caught flat footed, as Sabre shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Karelinokov had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sabre is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Karelinokov Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sabre's back instead.

A close second round but Fedor Karelinokov will probably get the nod - 10:9.

and Karelinokov counters with a shoot takedown. Sabre fights it but they end up in guard.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Karelinokov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Karelinokov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sabre is looking to escape.

Sabre somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Karelinokov is working an open guard so Sabre takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Karelinokov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Karelinokov drives through and clinches with Sabre against the cage.

Karelinokov wants to improve his position but instead Sabre has moved into half guard.

Fedor Karelinokov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Karelinokov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
