The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Godbey steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pinker.

Pinker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Godbey takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Pinker taking a break here but Godbey is having none of it and regains half guard.
Pinker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Godbey tries to roll over but Pinker keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pinker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Godbey keeps working.
Pinker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Godbey 's head.

Horus Pinker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Godbey has managed to clinch.

Godbey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pinker misses with a two punch combination.
Godbey shoots in for a double leg but Pinker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pinker smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

and Godbey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pinker's guard.

Pinker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pinker throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Godbey slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Pinker.

Pinker throws a series of punches but Godbey avoids them all with ease.
Godbey tries for a takedown but Pinker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Pinker is trying desperately to improve position.

Pinker is refusing to be controlled, as Godbey sits in half guard.
Pinker moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pinker manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Godbey wants to sweep here but Pinker controlling him for the moment.

Godbey is looking for a triangle but Pinker pushes his legs off easily.
Pinker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pinker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pinker is breathing heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pinker connects with a nice short shot to Godbey 's temple.
Pinker is looking to advance position but Godbey won't allow it.
Godbey is trying to stand up here but Pinker is controlling him well.

Pinker stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Godbey to get to his feet.
Godbey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pinker as he jumps to the side.
Pinker lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Godbey backs up against the cage.
