The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Den manages to avoid it.

Den has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fontes has had enough of the clinch but Den keeps him there for the moment.
Fontes is trying to break free.
Fontes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Den pulls guard effortlessly.

Den is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Fontes tries to break free but Den pushes him back against the cage.
Den has Fontes pressed against the cage, preventing Fontes from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Den drags the fight down to the ground.

Den has his foot on Fontes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fontes works his way back into a safe position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Den kicks Fontes off and gets to his feet.

Den manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fontes on his heels. He'll look to pass Fontes's guard now, I'm sure.
Fontes being controlled here, momentarily.

Den gets to his feet - Fontes follows without any prompting.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fontes throws a big shot that misses.

Den shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fontes's guard.
Fontes is trying to hold Den in close to prevent damage but Den has managed to pass into half guard.

Den is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Fontes is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
