PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Dickinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dickinson comes to the cage accompanied by turisas- stand up and fight. McKenzie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Startisan - Just kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKenzie closes the distance and clinches.
McKenzie has had enough of the clinch but Dickinson keeps him there for the moment.
McKenzie working hard to break the clinch.
McKenzie is stalling here.
Dickinson just leaning against McKenzie, taking a breather.
Dickinson stops a takedown attempt from McKenzie.
Dickinson tries to pull guard but McKenzie forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Dickinson lands a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
McKenzie controls Dickinson momentarily but Dickinson frees himself.
Dickinson postures up in McKenzie's guard and throws a big left but McKenzie blocks it.
Dickinson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Dickinson pushing down on McKenzie's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dickinson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McKenzie sees it coming and defends easily.

McKenzie works his way to full guard. Good work.
Dickinson throws a big right hand that misses.
Dickinson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dickinson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McKenzie wants to stand but Dickinson is controlling the position.

Dickinson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McKenzie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dickinson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

McKenzie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dickinson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dickinson gets to his feet - McKenzie follows without any prompting.
Dickinson fails with the takedown.
Dickinson misses with a takedown attempt - McKenzie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

McKenzie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dickinson pinned against the cage. Dickinson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dickinson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McKenzie is aware though and is defending well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McKenzie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McKenzie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dickinson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dickinson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McKenzie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dickinson is looking for a takedown.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dickinson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Will Dickinson just wasn't active enough.

McKenzie moves into range and clinches up with Dickinson.

McKenzie is breathing heavily.

Dickinson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McKenzie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dickinson tries to score a body lock takedown but McKenzie shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

McKenzie creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Dickinson tries to pull guard but McKenzie holds him up against the cage and eventually Dickinson drops back down to his feet.

McKenzie prevents a takedown attempt there.

Dickinson gets control of McKenzie's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dickinson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
