PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Guidetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Slater will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Guidetti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Slater!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guidetti throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slater's waist but Slater gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guidetti off to one side.

Slater clinches up against the cage.

Slater's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Guidetti could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Slater misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Guidetti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slater tries to avoid it but Guidetti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slater to the ground. Slater escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Guidetti counters with a shoot takedown. Slater fights it but they end up in guard.
Guidetti might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Slater looking to hit a scissor sweep but Guidetti is one step ahead there.

Guidetti is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Slater isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Guidetti stacks Slater on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Guidetti!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Guidetti has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Slater!

Slater tries to improve his position but instead Guidetti has taken his back!
Slater just trying to survive but Guidetti is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slater is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Guidetti tightening his grip on Slater, looking for the choke.
Slater rolls, trying to escape but Guidetti keeps control of the position.

Slater defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Guidetti's arms.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Guidetti is persistently looking for the submission but Slater is defending it well.
Guidetti is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Guidetti is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Slater knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Slater for a finish.

Guidetti had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Slater defends it easily.
Slater looking to sit in guard and control but Guidetti gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Slater keeping moving, preventing Guidetti from controlling successfully.
Guidetti passes Slater's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Guidetti looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Guidetti working over Slater with some ground and pound. Slater looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Slater trying to hold on to Guidetti's head to control him but Guidetti postures up.
Slater missing with punches from the bottom.
Guidetti is keen to just control but Slater is a slippery customer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Guidetti is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Slater sees it coming and defends easily.
Slater on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Guidetti dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Guidetti looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Slater!

Guidetti goes for an armbar but Slater turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Slater.
Slater throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Guidetti works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Slater wants to pass the guard but Guidetti is keeping the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Guidetti is on top in guard.
Guidetti passes Slater's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Slater is trying to maintain the position but Guidetti is very close to passing his half guard.

Slater is defending against the submission attempts here by Guidetti.

Guidetti working over Slater with some ground and pound. Slater looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Guidetti is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Guidetti can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Slater is looking to escape.
Slater wants to hold on but Guidetti pushes him away.

Guidetti swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Slater is now in Guidetti's guard. A big mistake from Guidetti there, giving up the dominant position!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Guidetti throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Slater escapes and throws Guidetti's legs to the side, diving into side control!

You can see the frustration on Guidetti's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Slater really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guidetti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Guidetti is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Guidetti manages to get to full guard.

Guidetti has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Slater doesn't defend quickly enough and Guidetti has managed to lock this one up! Can Slater escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Guidetti on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Guidetti!
