The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almeida misses with a head kick.

Martinez throws a shot from downtown. Almeida moves away and avoids it.
Martinez cracks Almeida with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Almeida moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Martinez throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Crunch! Martinez slams his shin into Almeida's torso.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Martinez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Almeida throws a half hearted mid kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Almeida crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Martinez - the referee stops the clock and Almeida gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Martinez. Almeida manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Almeida on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Almeida has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Martinez.

Martinez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Martinez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Almeida takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
