Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Giampa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Duke Davis!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis misses with a few strikes there.
Giampa closes the distance and clinches.
Giampa jumps guard but Davis stands there with Giampa around his waist. Giampa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Giampa is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Giampa tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Giampa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Giampa is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Giampa tries to pull guard but Davis won't allow it.
Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A punch combination from Davis misses.
Giampa fails in his attempt to clinch.
Giampa scores with a three punch combo!
Giampa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Davis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Giampa throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Davis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Davis throws an overhand right that lands on Giampa's shoulder, as Giampa tries to avoid the shot.
Davis throws a body punch but Giampa moves out of range.
Davis drops Giampa with a right and a left! Davis comes rushing in but Giampa regains his composure and manages to keep Davis in guard.
Giampa is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Giampa wants to sweep here but Davis controlling him for the moment.
Oh Giampa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis stands and steps away. Giampa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Giampa seems to have got his legs back now.
Giampa falls off balance throwing a combination
and Davis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Giampa slips a jab and a cross from Davis.
Davis moves into range and clinches up with Giampa.
A short uppercut from Davis.
Davis blocks an uppercut.
Davis just leaning against Giampa, taking a breather.
Davis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Giampa.
Giampa is breathing heavily.
Davis on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Davis lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Davis leaning against his opponent.
Davis breaks from the clinch.
Davis drops Giampa with a beautiful combination! Giampa stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Davis is looking for the KO!
Davis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Giampa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Davis circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Giampa drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Davis follows Giampa to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Duke Davis!
