Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Zat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zat comes into the arena with Open your eyes by Alter Bridge blaring out of the sound system. Jordan Jones has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Gabriel Zat's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Zat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jordan Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zat connects with a body shot that sends Jones's belly button to the back.
Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jones is looking to clinch but Zat is avoiding it.
Zat takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Zat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zat fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Jordan Jones has been cut.
Zat thows a body shot but no joy.
Zat shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Zat. Zat gets slowly back to his feet.
Zat swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zat scores with a sloppy right hand. Jones should have avoided that one.
Zat fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones wants to clinch up but Zat keeps it at a distance.

Jones throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zat circles away quickly and effectively.
Zat tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Zat lands a really nice looking cross but Jones seems unphased.
Jones throws a body punch but Zat moves out of range.
Jones throws a right and a left that Zat avoids nicely.

Zat uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Zat pushes him off.
Zat tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.

The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Jones throws a series of punches but Zat moves out of range.

Zat jumps guard but Jones stands there with Zat around his waist. Zat gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Zat goes for a takedown attempt but Jones pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Zat throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jones lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Zat backs up against the cage.
A combination from Jones does no damage.

Zat looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zat. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.

Zat darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones gets full guard.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Zat throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zat utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones postures up in Zat's guard and throws a big left but Zat blocks it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones pushes down on Zat's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Horrible takedown by Zat or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.
Zat shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones misses with a wild combination.
Zat tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Zat has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Zat wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Zat postures up and lands a big shot to Jones's brow.

Zat shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jones's guard.
Jones is looking to stand up but Zat isn't so interested in that idea.
Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Zat wants to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zat is looking to escape.
Jones throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Zat because Jones loaded up on that one.

Zat has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Jones's lack of action.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zat scores with a one two! Jones had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Jones lands with a kick to the temple. Zat shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Zat breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Zat takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Zat misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jones catches Zat with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Zat throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Zat is looking to wear down Jones with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Jones looks to land a combination. Zat sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Zat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Zat misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Zat tries to advance to mount but can't.
