PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Milo Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mats Fotoberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fotoberg is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mama said Knock you out. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mats Fotoberg!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fotoberg throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fotoberg throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Phillips will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Phillips postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fotoberg is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Phillips, into his guard.

Horrible takedown by Phillips or perhaps it was just good defense by Fotoberg which made him look bad.

Phillips is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That was a close round but I would say that Milo Phillips will probably get the nod.

Milo Phillips overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fotoberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Phillips. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Phillips tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fotoberg sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Phillips somewhat.

No joy there for Fotoberg, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fotoberg can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fotoberg is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Phillips is controlling him.
Phillips pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fotoberg is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phillips drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Phillips seems to have locked his on tight now - Fotoberg screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Phillips, as he picks up the win!
