Paulsen comes to the cage accompanied by Can I Play With Madness. Jan Paulsen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Paulsen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maksimilian Tchepikov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulsen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tchepikov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Paulsen.
Paulsen moves out of range of the leg kick from Tchepikov.
Paulsen walks into a straight right hand from Tchepikov.
Decent striking displayed by Paulsen there.
Tchepikov tries to clinch but Paulsen moves out of range.
Paulsen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tchepikov.
A nice combination there by Tchepikov.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Paulsen moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Paulsen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Maksimilian Tchepikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Maksimilian Tchepikov has been cut.
Tchepikov throws a jab when Paulsen was well out of range.
Tchepikov walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Tchepikov moves in looking to clinch but Paulsen pushes him off.

Paulsen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tchepikov looks to land a left hand but Paulsen moved out of range nicely.

Paulsen thows a body kick. Tchepikov tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Paulsen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Paulsen is trying to control the action in half guard but Tchepikov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Paulsen is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Paulsen pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Paulsen looking to control but Tchepikov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Tchepikov is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Still in half guard, Paulsen seems content to control.

Paulsen wants to pass to mount but Tchepikov is defending the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paulsen wants to take a breather but Tchepikov is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tchepikov tries to move into range but Paulsen moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Tchepikov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tchepikov tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Paulsen tries a body shot but Tchepikov blocks it.
Paulsen connects with a nasty looking knee right to Tchepikov's face.
Tchepikov misses with a hook from the clinch.
Tchepikov misses with a hook to the ribs.

Paulsen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tchepikov misses with a head kick.
Tchepikov throws a lazy head kick
and Paulsen counters with an outside leg kick.
Paulsen's corner calls for a 1-2. Paulsen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tchepikov throws a looping overhand right but Paulsen ducks down to avoid it.
Paulsen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Tchepikov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tchepikov wants it to stay on the feet.
Paulsen swats away the attempt to clinch by Tchepikov.
Tchepikov stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Paulsen.
Jan Paulsen is winning the standup battle so far.
Tchepikov is breathing heavily.
Tchepikov misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tchepikov throws a looping overhand right but Paulsen ducks down to avoid it.

Paulsen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Paulsen moves out of range as Tchepikov throws a body kick.

Paulsen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tchepikov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tchepikov can't keep his opponent in guard - Paulsen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Paulsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tchepikov keeps working.
Jan Paulsen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Paulsen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tchepikov defends it well.

Tchepikov looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A slapping body kick lands there for Paulsen.
Paulsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tchepikov manages to avoid it.
Tchepikov misses with a wild body shot.
Paulsen looks to land a combination but Tchepikov avoids it well.
Paulsen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Paulsen works the jab nicely.
Tchepikov looks to throw the jab but Paulsen is out of range.
Paulsen thows a body kick. Tchepikov tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Tchepikov on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Tchepikov has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Paulsen.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tchepikov lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Tchepikov fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fighters circle, before Paulsen throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Tchepikov's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Paulsen lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Jan Paulsen!

After winning the bout, Jan Paulsen thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
