Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arto Markkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Carneiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Markkanen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mell - Red Fraction. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arto Markkanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rafael Carneiro!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markkanen tries a head kick but it misses.
Markkanen scores with a head kick. Carneiro tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Carneiro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Markkanen throws a wild body kick that Carneiro sees coming a mile off.
Markkanen wants to slow Carneiro down by chopping away at his legs.
Markkanen lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Markkanen scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Markkanen throws a low kick but Carneiro avoids it.
Markkanen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Markkanen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carneiro on the ground.
Markkanen wants to control but Carneiro postures up.
Markkanen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Carneiro is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Markkanen pushes Carneiro away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carneiro gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Markkanen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Carneiro tries to advance to mount but Markkanen denies him.

Markkanen has one of Carneiro's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Markkanen wants to get back to his feet but Carneiro drags him back down.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Carneiro throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
You can see the frustration on Markkanen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Carneiro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carneiro tries to score with some ground and pound. Markkanen controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Carneiro is looking to take a break and control but Markkanen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Markkanen gets back to half guard.
Markkanen holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Carneiro throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Carneiro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Markkanen keeps working.

Carneiro is working for a kimura but Markkanen is defending it quite comfortably.
Markkanen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Carneiro trying to mount his opponent but Markkanen defends it.
Markkanen is holding on to half guard well.
Carneiro winds up and cracks Markkanen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Markkanen wants to get back to full guard.
Carneiro is looking to take a break and control but Markkanen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carneiro is looking to advance position but Markkanen won't allow it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Carneiro scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Arto Markkanen will probably get the nod.

Carneiro fails with a takedown attempt.
Markkanen is looking to slow Carneiro down with leg kicks.
Carneiro shoots in for a takedown but Markkanen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Carneiro fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Arto Markkanen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Carneiro.
Carneiro closes the distance and clinches up with Markkanen, looking for a takedown. Carneiro pushes Markkanen against the cage but Markkanen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Markkanen stalks Carneiro and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Carneiro's face. Carneiro staggers backwards, shaken.
Markkanen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Markkanen has cracked Carneiro with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Markkanen lands another huge swinging hook and Carneiro tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Carneiro, before Markkanen can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Arto Markkanen!
