Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrone Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyrone Carlson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyrone Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlson gets caught napping as Faber dives in and scores a takedown. Carlson manages to retain guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Faber content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Carlson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Faber is working away from the top position though.
Faber looks to land a strike but Carlson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carlson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Faber's guard.

Faber is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Faber can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carlson controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tyrone Carlson was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Carlson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Faber is fending him off so far but Carlson persists. Nope, Faber circles away and we're back to standing.

Faber throws a right and a left that Carlson avoids nicely.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carlson wants to clinch.
Faber shoots in looking for a takedown but Carlson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Faber's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Faber's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Faber duly obliges.

Carlson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Faber but Faber pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Faber misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Faber leaves Carlson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Frank Faber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carlson tries to close the distance and clinch but Faber swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Faber rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carlson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Faber is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Carlson!

Faber lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Faber cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Carlson is bucking up trying to escape but Faber cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The referee warns Carlson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Carlson is still in real trouble! Can Faber finish him?

Frank Faber overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Faber loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Carlson scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Faber land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Faber stands and salutes the crowd.
