PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Greyson Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Cavil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greyson Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Cavil!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cavil gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Reyes misses with a looping left.

Cavil gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Cavil gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Reyes wants to sweep but no luck.
Cavil stands and throws Reyes's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Reyes is looking for a sweep.

Cavil has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Reyes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cavil's waist but Cavil gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reyes off to one side.
Reyes wants to clinch

and Cavil counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cavil.
Cavil tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Cavil's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Cavil has hold of one of Reyes's legs. Reyes is fighting the takedown attempt but Cavil gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Cavil thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Reyes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reyes throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cavil works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Cavil tries to stand but can't do so whilst Reyes controls his leg.
Cavil moves into full mount! Reyes won't be happy about that!

Cavil stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Reyes tries to keep at a distance but Cavil has taken the fight into the clinch.
Reyes wants to get back to striking at distance but Cavil won't allow it.
Reyes wants to break free but Cavil has control.
Reyes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Cavil tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Reyes can't break the clinch.
Cavil with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Cavil looks gassed!
Reyes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cavil prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greyson Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cavil turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
You can see the frustration on Reyes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Reyes tries to bench press Cavil off him but Cavil keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cavil decides to stand back up.
Cavil takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Reyes takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Greyson Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reyes looks to land a right hand but Cavil moved out of range.
Reyes throws out a loose jab but Cavil uses good head movement to avoid it.
Reyes throws a jab but it's blocked by Cavil.

Cavil has managed to clinch.
Reyes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cavil has him pressed against the cage.
Cavil landing knees to the head.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Reyes prevents a takedown attempt there.
Reyes wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Cavil gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cavil passes Reyes's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Cavil postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Reyes to stand up.

Cavil drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cavil gets to his feet - Reyes follows without any prompting.

Cavil drives through and clinches with Reyes against the cage.
Reyes takes a knee right on the jaw!
Cavil with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Cavil lands a takedown into guard.

Cavil drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cavil jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cavil decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Reyes, up you get!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cavil darts in and clinches Reyes up against the cage.
Cavil keeps control of Reyes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Cavil wants the takedown. Reyes is fighting it off but Cavil persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Reyes's guard against the cage.

Reyes looking for a triangle here. Cavil is fighting it but it looks tight! Reyes pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Cavil is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Greyson Reyes!
