The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Statement thows a body shot but no joy.
Datass takes a swing at Statement's ribcage but misses.
Datass shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Statement as he jumps to the side.
Datass throws a big shot that misses.
Datass throws a jab when Statement was well out of range.
Statement throws out a loose jab but Datass uses good head movement to avoid it.
Statement ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Datass moves away.
Datass fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Statement slips a straight right by Datass.
Datass misses with a kick to the body.
Statement uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Datass.
Statement pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Datass misses with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters circle momentarily. Statement darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Statement avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Statement takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Datass catches Statement with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Statement throws a poor cross that misses
and Datass counters with a nice uppercut.
Datass swings for the body but Statement moves out of range.
Datass gets the takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Datass happy to just control the position for now.
Datass creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Statement sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Statement prevents Datass from improving position.
Statement defending against the ground and pound.
Datass has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Datass advances to mount.
Statement is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Datass lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Statement can do anything to dispel that myth.
Datass is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Datass extends the arm and Statement is forced to tap!
