Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Puempel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Period (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Period has chosen Closer as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Puempel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mister Period!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Period lands with a nice body punch.
Period jabs at Puempel's body.
Puempel is looking to clinch.
Puempel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Period.

Puempel moves into range and clinches up with Period.
Puempel misses with a body punch.
Period avoids the elbow strike from Puempel, against the cage.
Period is trying to push Puempel away but Puempel has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Puempel misses with a punch on the inside.
Puempel lands a damaging elbow.

It looks like Mister Period has been cut.
Period wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Puempel has him pressed against the cage.
Puempel lands an elbow inside that Period shrugs off.

Puempel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Puempel wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Period is now in half guard.
It looks like Period is going to stand back up.

Puempel trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Puempel wants to control but Period is having none of it.

Puempel keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Period wants to stand but Puempel is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Puempel sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Puempel tries to roll over but Period keeps him under control.

Matt Puempel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Period misses with a few strikes there.

Period feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Puempels jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

That's time! Puempel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Puempel's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Period connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Puempel scrambles back to his feet.
Puempel takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Period throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Period lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Period misses with an uppercut. Puempel saw that one coming.
Period swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Period works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Puempel feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Period's calf.
Puempel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Period.
Puempel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Period paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Puempel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Period looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Period bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Period lands with an uppercut that bounces Puempel off the cage and back into range.

Puempel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Nice uppercut lands for Period. That snapped Puempel's head back.
Period scores with a jab to the body.
Period might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Period uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
A leg kick checked by Period.
Period tried to score with a low kick but Puempel checks it.
Puempel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Puempel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Period fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Puempel on the side of the head.
Puempel bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Puempel doesn't manage to clinch there - Period circles away.
Mister Period seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Puempel lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Period looking for submissions off his back.
Period tries to kick Puempel off but Puempel keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Period wants to improve his position but Puempel is controlling well.
Puempel wants to control but Period is keeping him busy.
Puempel has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Period keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Period tries to lock up and control but Puempel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters circling - Period throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Puempel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Puempel ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Puempel.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Puempel just misses with a elbow thrown towards Period's brow.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Puempel seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Period takes an elbow to the forehead.

Puempel tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Period is looking to control Puempel's arms but Puempel gets an underhook and turns him. Now Period has his back to the cage.
Puempel looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Puempel effectively controlling the action here.
Puempel lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

That has opened up Mister Period's cut even more.
Puempel misses with an elbow strike.
Puempel misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Period.
Period wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Puempel creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Period's defenses.

The cut above Mister Period's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Puempel pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Puempel lands an elbow just above Period 's eye.
Puempel lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Mister Period's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mister Period's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Matt Puempel!
