The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson shoots for a double leg takedown but Russo sprawls well. He's pushed Lawson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Russo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lawson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Russo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Russo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lawson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Russo!
Lawson with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Lawson is working for a guillotine from mount but Russo frees his head quite easily.
Lawson wants to take his opponent's back but Russo doesn't allow it.
Lawson has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Russo is forced to tap!
