PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Bon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drake kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is War is my Destiny. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jean Bon enters the cage!

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Drake does no damage.
Drake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bon avoids the head kick by Drake.
Drake throws a right and a left that both miss.
Drake avoids the body shot from Bon.
No joy there for Drake, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bon takes the fight into the clinch.
Bon keeps control of Drake as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Drake has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Drake wants to get back to striking at distance but Bon won't allow it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
I really don't envy Drake right now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drake breaks Bon's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Bon throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

It looks like Jean Bon has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bon lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Drake sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Drake stalks Bon and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bon's face. Bon staggers backwards, shaken.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Drake stuffs the takedown attempt from Bon. Bon gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Damian Drake will probably get the nod.

Bon is trying to drag Drake to the mat but Drake just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
