Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lester Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Carpio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carpio has chosen Derezzed as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lester Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Carpio!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Green checks a leg kick.
Green will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Green swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dave Carpio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carpio feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Carpio wants to control from the top but Green keeps moving.

Carpio avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Carpio working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carpio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Green is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Carpio has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dave Carpio.

Green needs to keep his hands up - Carpio had a free shot at his head there.
Green on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Carpio avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Carpio displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Green.
Carpio moves in looking to clinch but Green pushes him off.
Carpio misses with a low kick.
Green walks into a jab.

Green dives in and grabs Carpio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carpio pushes down on Green's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lester Green. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carpio is looking to slow Green down with leg kicks.
Carpio shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Carpio connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Green walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Carpio misses the shot to the body.
Carpio takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Carpio feints and as Green raises his hands in defense, Carpio changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Green lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Carpio!

Carpio tries to hold on but Green postures up.
Green throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Carpio because Green loaded up on that one.
Carpio is trying desperately to improve position.
Green connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Green has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Poor strikes thrown by Green there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Green working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Carpio slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Carpio wants to improve his position but Green is controlling well.
Carpio is staying active underneath Green, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Green thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carpio's head.

Green is looking to take a break and control but Carpio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Green is taking a breather. Carpio says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Green seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carpio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lester Green.
Some bone on bone action there as Carpio checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Green shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Green takes one to the chin there.
Carpio misses the jab.
Carpio displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Green.
Carpio lunges at Green with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Green's hand.
Green thumps Carpio with a low kick.
Green fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Carpio has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Green tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carpio sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Green somewhat.
Green swats away the attempt to clinch by Carpio.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carpio throws a leg kick but Green sees it coming and moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Carpio throws a shot from downtown. Green moves away and avoids it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carpio looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Green shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carpio but Carpio pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Carpio throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Carpio cracks Green with a right hand to the side of the head.

That kick from Carpio tenderised Green's leg. Green is trying to keep his angry face on.
Green checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Carpio lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

and Green counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Carpio thinking.

Sloppy strikes from Carpio. Those never looked like landing.
Carpio moves out of range of the leg kick from Green.
Carpio wants to clinch up but Green keeps it at a distance.

Carpio closes the distance and clinches.
Carpio misses with a knee strike.
Green takes an elbow to the temple.
Carpio lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Green is trying to stall.

Green is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Carpio makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carpio.

Green slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Green moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Carpio pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Carpio missing with a left hand there. Green was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Green counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carpio throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Green stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Carpio does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dave Carpio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carpio has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
