The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruent throws a hook to the side of Puncher's head but Puncher sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A big right from Puncher misses.
Puncher scores with a body shot.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ruent.
Ruent tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Ruent trying to control the action but Puncher is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruent is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Puncher will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's time! Ruent's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ruent shoots in looking for a takedown. Puncher tries to sprawl out of it but Ruent keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Puncher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ruent misses with an uppercut.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ruent.
Ruent throws a right and a left that both miss.
Puncher steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ruent.

Ruent clobbers Puncher with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ruent throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Puncher throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ruent stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Puncher tries to land a leg kick but Ruent saw it coming and moves away.

A slapping leg kick lands for Puncher.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A looping hook to the body misses from Ruent. Puncher does a little dance to reset his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Puncher, as that shot connected.
Pete Ruent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ruent misses with a straight right.
Ruent shoots for a double leg takedown but Puncher sprawls well. He's pushed Ruent's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Puncher tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruent was well out of range. Poor timing from Puncher.

Puncher shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Ruent is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

The crowd cheers as Puncher lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ruent doesn't seem phased though.

Puncher throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ruent on the side of the head.
Puncher throws a body punch but Ruent moves out of range.

Ruent misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ruent connects with a looping right hand.
Puncher throws a jab but it's blocked by Ruent.
Puncher circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Ruent drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Puncher follows Ruent to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Hard Puncher thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
