PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cristiano Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halo's entrance music is Champ.. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that Cristiano Halo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Cristiano Halo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cristiano Halo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Jones!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halo shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Jones looking for a guillotine here but Halo defends easily.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Halo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Halo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Halo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Halo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Halo's guard.

Halo looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.
Halo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Halo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Halo dives on top into guard.
Halo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Jones is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Halo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Halo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones tries to bench press Halo off him but Halo keeps the position.
Jones manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Jones decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Jones gets tackled into the cage by Halo. Halo maintains the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones stalling in the clinch but Halo improves position.
Halo landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Halo leaning his opponent against the cage.
Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but Halo pulls his leg out and moves away.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.

Halo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Halo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Halo looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Jones is defending well. Halo quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Jones has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Halo celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cristiano Halo!
A relieved looking Cristiano Halo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
