Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Taylor Andrews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timothy Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrews comes into the arena with Born to be somebody blaring out of the sound system. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Taylor Andrews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Timothy Archer!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Andrews enables Archer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Andrews manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Andrews looking to hit a scissor sweep but Archer is one step ahead there.
Andrews really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Archer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Archer passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Archer is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Archer seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Archer uses his free foot to push down on Andrews's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Andrews.
Archer trying to control but Andrews is having none of it.

Archer is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Archer misses with a body shot.
Archer misses with a kick to the body.
Archer fails in his attempt to clinch.
Andrews misses with an attempted mid kick.
Andrews avoids the head kick by Archer.
Andrews throws a head kick that misses.
Archer tries to clinch but Andrews is having none of it.
Archer misses with a takedown attempt

and Andrews counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee asks Andrews politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Andrews prefers to stall for the moment though.
Andrews wants to lay and pray for a moment but Archer keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Andrews is breathing heavily.
Archer is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Andrews is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
What's Archer going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Taylor Andrews just wasn't active enough.
Archer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Andrews finds it's way round the side to connect with Archer's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Andrews throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Archer's waist but Archer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Andrews off to one side.
Andrews misses with a takedown attempt - Archer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Archer shoots in for a takedown but Andrews shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Andrews pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Archer back to the cage. Andrews follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Archer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Andrews tries to avoid it but Archer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Andrews to the ground. Andrews escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Taylor Andrews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timothy Archer.
Andrews throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Archer's waist but Archer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Andrews off to one side.
Andrews shoots for a double leg takedown but Archer sprawls well. He's pushed Andrews's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Archer slips a jab and a cross from Andrews.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Andrews keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Archer fails with the takedown.
A jab from Andrews finds it's way through Archer's defenses.
Andrews tries to score a power double leg takedown but Archer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Andrews somewhat.
Andrews checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Archer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Archer wants it to stay on the feet.
Archer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Andrews fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Timothy Archer will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Andrews cracks Archer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Andrews shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Archer pinned against the cage. Archer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Andrews swats away the attempt to clinch by Archer.
No luck for Archer with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Archer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Andrews on his heels. He'll look to pass Andrews's guard now, I'm sure.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Archer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Andrews is keeping the position for now.
Andrews is pulling down on Archer's head. It's preventing any offense from Archer, at least for the moment.

Archer trying to control but Andrews is working from the bottom.
Andrews controls Archer momentarily but Archer frees himself.
Andrews wants to get back to his feet but Archer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Andrews moves into the clinch.
Archer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Andrews walks away with a smile on his face. Archer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Archer takes one on the chin but seems OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Archer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Andrews.
Archer stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Taylor Andrews. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Archer tries to bum rush Andrews with a series of wild strikes but Andrews uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Archer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Andrews's waist but Andrews gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Archer off to one side.

Andrews clinches up with Archer and pushes him back against the cage.

Andrews pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Andrews is looking to land body kicks.

Andrews shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Timothy Archer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Andrews not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Andrews wants to stand but Archer is controlling his posture from full guard.
Andrews will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Archer looking for a triangle here. Andrews is fighting it but it looks tight! Archer pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Andrews is tapping out - this one is all over!
