PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roberval Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crarence Elvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roberval Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Crarence Elvin!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elvin shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Elvin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Santos fails to land the takedown.
Elvin throws a head kick but Santos moves out of range.
Elvin swats away the attempt to clinch by Santos.
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Elvin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Santos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Santos moves in looking to clinch but Elvin pushes him off.
Elvin looks to throw a body kick

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown. Elvin fights it but they end up in guard.
Elvin has his hands on Santos's head, controlling the position.
Santos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Elvin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Elvin is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Santos goes for a takedown attempt but Elvin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Santos changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Elvin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Santos counters with a right hand to the body.

Elvin gets to his feet. Santos looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Elvin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Elvin has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Elvin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Santos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Santos shoots in looking for a takedown. Elvin tries to sprawl out of it but Santos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Elvin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Elvin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Santos connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Elvin tries to clinch but Santos is having none of it.

Elvin feints and as Santos raises his hands in defense, Elvin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Elvin stands up from Santos's guard - Elvin perhaps looking for a knockout.
Horrible takedown by Santos or perhaps it was just good defense by Elvin which made him look bad.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Santos is desperately trying to improve his position but Elvin has a good base and remains in mount.

A nice elbow there by Elvin.
Elvin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Elvin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Santos can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Elvin gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Elvin tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Elvin to the ground. Elvin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Elvin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Elvin wants it to stay on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Crarence Elvin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Santos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Elvin but Elvin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Santos gets tackled into the cage by Elvin. Elvin maintains the clinch.
Santos lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Elvin swings wildly with an uppercut but Santos uses good head movement to avoid it.
Elvin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Santos avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Elvin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Santos circles away quickly and effectively.

Roberval Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crarence Elvin.

Santos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Santos throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Elvin as he avoids it easily.

Santos tries to clinch but Elvin moves out of range.
Santos throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Elvin.
Santos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Elvin's waist but Elvin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Santos off to one side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Elvin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Elvin lands in his opponent's guard.
Elvin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Elvin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Santos, who protects the arm well.

Elvin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Santos wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Elvin in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Elvin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Elvin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Santos is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Elvin advances to full mount.
Roberval Santos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Crarence Elvin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
