Skaar is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World . Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sweeney uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Skaar.
Skaar lands a jab to Sweeney's midsection.
Sweeney scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

It looks like John Skaar has been cut.
Skaar moves in looking to clinch but Sweeney pushes him off.
Skaar lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sweeney backs up against the cage.

It looks like Dalton Sweeney has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Left hook, right uppercut from Sweeney.
A combination from Skaar does no damage.
Nice uppercut there from Sweeney.
Sweeney misses with a jab, cross combination.

Sweeney drops Skaar with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Skaar looks back up at him and smiles so Sweeney waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Skaar is rocked!
Skaar takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Skaar drives through with a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Skaar is pushing down on Sweeney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sweeney is fighting to maintain full guard but Skaar has managed to sneak the leg through.
Skaar wants to control but Sweeney is keeping him busy.

Skaar is just content to waste time from the top position. Sweeney takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Skaar takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sweeney is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Sweeney batters Skaar with a massive right followed by a huge left! Skaar is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Sweeney lands a final crushing right hand to drop Skaar to the mat with a gruesome thud! Sweeney is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
