Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Issot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with a takedown attempt.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Smith, right into the meat.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Issot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Issot.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Nice takedown defense from Issot. No joy for Smith on that attempt.
Smith cracks Issot with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

It looks like Darren Issot has been cut.
Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Issot tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
Smith lands a head kick. Issot smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Issot wants to break the clinch but can't.
Smith tries to pull guard but Issot won't allow it.
Issot manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Issot goes for a takedown in the clinch but Smith prevents it.
Issot is trying to pull guard but Smith turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Issot wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Issot gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Issot throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Issot throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Issot off to one side.
Issot defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith closes the distance but Issot moves to the side

and Issot counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Smith!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Issot goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Smith turns into him and now he's in Issot's guard.

Issot had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
Issot controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself.
Smith passes Issot's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Issot keeps working.
Issot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Issot is defending well.
Smith stalling.
Issot wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Issot is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Smith is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That was a close round but I would say that Bobby Smith will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Issot tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Issot decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith gets back to full guard.

Issot is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smith is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smith has escaped and now he's on top!
Issot is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith stays in close to Issot's body and controls the position.

Issot is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.
Darren Issot has got the better of the ground game so far.

Issot is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.

Smith stands and steps away. Issot gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Issot sprawls well. Issot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Issot tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Issot shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Issot can do anything to dispel that myth.
Issot is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Issot.

Smith pulls guard effortlessly.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Issot from controlling successfully.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Smith controls Issot momentarily but Issot frees himself.

Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Issot defends well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Issot gets to his feet - Smith follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darren Issot showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Issot puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Issot wants to pass the guard but Smith is defending well.

It looks like Issot is going to stand back up.
Smith wants to improve his position but Issot is controlling well.
Smith is in trouble now - Issot has advanced to mount!
Issot connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Issot cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
