The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua misses with a two punch combination.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Valentinov.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Valentinov is defended easily by Rua.
Valentinov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rua as he jumps to the side.
Alejandro Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denis Valentinov.
Rua misses with the combination.
Valentinov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rua sprawls well initially but Valentinov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rua moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Valentinov is posturing up here but Rua has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Valentinov tries to roll out but it's too tight and Valentinov has to tap! Slick submission there by Rua!
