The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Maia misses with a leg kick
and Withrow counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Withrow tries to clinch up.
Maia uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Withrow.
Withrow moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Maia throws a hook but Withrow avoids it easily.
Withrow's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Withrow duly obliges.
Withrow throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Withrow throws a series of punches but Maia avoids them all with ease.
Maia loads up on a big right hand but Withrow slips the punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maia misses with a leg kick.
Maia moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Maia shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Maia misses with a wild body shot.
Maia tries to clinch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Withrow uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maia.
Withrow lands a head kick. Maia smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Daniel Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maia swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Maia tries to clinch but Withrow is having none of it.
Withrow misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Maia thows a body shot but no joy.
Some wild striking there from Withrow.

Withrow keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Maia.
Maia shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Withrow is trying to defend but Maia finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Withrow tries to get to full guard but Maia has control of the leg.
Maia wants to control but Withrow is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Withrow works his way to full guard. Good work.

Withrow has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though.

Maia is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Withrow is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
