PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Omaly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Blair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Omaly comes to the cage accompanied by Outside - To Forgive but not Forget . Blair has chosen Bullet by Creed as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Hank Blair will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Omaly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Blair!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blair shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Omaly avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Blair misses with a low kick.
Omaly takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Blair misses with a hook
and Omaly makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Blair misses with a straight left.
Hank Blair seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blair missing with a left hand there. Omaly was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Omaly has a takedown stuffed.
Omaly throws a poor cross that misses
letting Blair counter with a right hand.
Omaly will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Omaly counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Blair wants to get back to his feet but Omaly is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Omaly working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Blair tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Blair uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Omaly shoots for a takedown but Blair saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Blair scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Blair throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Mark Omaly has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Omaly shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Blair is trying to defend but Omaly finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Blair is refusing to be controlled, as Omaly sits in half guard.
Blair is trying to maintain the position but Omaly is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Omaly is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Blair doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Omaly.

Omaly seems to be looking for submissions.
Blair tries to get to full guard but Omaly has control of the leg.
Blair is trying to maintain the position but Omaly is very close to passing his half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Omaly is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Omaly is nestled in close to Blair, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Omaly looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Blair has hold of Omaly's hands but Omaly slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Omaly stalling away here and it's allowed Blair to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Omaly drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Blair dives on top into guard.
Blair won't allow Omaly to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Omaly will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Blair gets caught flat footed, as Omaly shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Blair avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Blair can't keep his opponent in guard - Omaly advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Omaly trying to control from half guard but Blair is working away.
Blair wants to get back to full guard.
Omaly is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mark Omaly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Omaly is working for a kimura but Blair is defending it quite comfortably.
Blair wants to get back to his feet.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Omaly here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Omaly looking for a submission but Blair manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Blair tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Omaly throws a strike but Blair rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Omaly is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blair is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blair doesn't have the hooks in and Omaly manages to turn into his guard.

Some bone on bone action there as Omaly checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Blair lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Omaly backs up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Omaly ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blair moves away.
Blair uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Omaly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mark Omaly will probably get the nod.

Omaly shoots in for a double leg but Blair sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Omaly bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Omaly throws a strike aimed at the side of Blair's head but Blair avoids it well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A swing and a miss from Omaly.
Omaly closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blair circles away.

Omaly is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blair.
