PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fantinaz Del Norte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Mkoulo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Mkoulo's choice of entrance music: Stronger. Anton Mkoulo will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fantinaz Del Norte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anton Mkoulo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Del Norte feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mkoulo is looking to stand up but Del Norte isn't so interested in that idea.
Del Norte stands up over Mkoulo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mkoulo keeping moving, preventing Del Norte from controlling successfully.
Del Norte working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Del Norte throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mkoulo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Del Norte prevents Mkoulo from getting back to his feet.
Del Norte wants to control from the top but Mkoulo keeps moving.
Del Norte slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Del Norte trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Del Norte advances position into side control!
You can see the frustration on Mkoulo's face as Del Norte controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Del Norte tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Del Norte has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Del Norte tries for a kimura but Mkoulo is defending well.

Del Norte thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Del Norte is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mkoulo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Mkoulo is trying to buck Del Norte off.

Del Norte lands a nice forearm strike.
Mkoulo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Del Norte looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Del Norte creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Del Norte tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Del Norte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Del Norte in side control, throwing shots but Mkoulo defends.
Mkoulo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Del Norte. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Del Norte lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Del Norte controlling from side mount.
Del Norte landing strikes.

Del Norte has an Americana. Mkoulo didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Del Norte is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Del Norte hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
