The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie avoids the head kick by Brown.
Gracie getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Brown throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely.
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brown leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Brown really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brown gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Gracie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brown is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Brown circles away and we're back to standing.

Gracie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brown pinned against the cage. Brown gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brown throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Gracie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brown was well out of range. Poor timing from Gracie.
Nice straight punches there by Gracie. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gracie.
Gracie slips a jab and a cross from Brown.
No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gracie fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brown looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Brown tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gracie connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Brown momentarily.

Gracie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gracie thows a body shot but no joy.
A chopping leg kick lands by Brown.
Gracie walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Brown checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Brown slips under a jab from Gracie.
Gracie fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brown looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Brown avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gracie misses with a wild body shot.
Gracie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Brown lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gracie backs up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Murphy Brown will probably get the nod.
