Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Rodrigues (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rodrigues might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Disturbed - Liberate. Curry is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: this fire burns. Gabriel Rodrigues is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rodrigues shoots in for a double leg but Curry sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rodrigues tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Curry swivels and escapes.

Curry has his foot on Rodrigues's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rodrigues works his way back into a safe position though.

Curry escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodrigues gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Curry controls Rodrigues momentarily but Rodrigues frees himself.
Curry might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rodrigues kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rodrigues wants to control from the top but Curry keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rodrigues shoots in looking for a takedown. Curry tries to sprawl out of it but Rodrigues keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Curry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rodrigues moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Curry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodrigues swivels though and keeps the full guard.

and Curry counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rodrigues won't be happy with that.

Curry is looking to take a break and control but Rodrigues is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Curry scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rodrigues to see if he's OK.

Rodrigues working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Curry doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Curry manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rodrigues has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Curry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
