Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Heinz Volker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Heinz Volker has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Heinz Volker seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James blocks a jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Volker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.

James has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Volker has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Volker is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if James gets his way!

James takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Volker is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Volker circles away and we're back to standing.
Volker lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

James is rocked!

Volker scores with a one two! James had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
James is still on wobbly legs! Can Volker finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Volker closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops James! Volker dives in looking to finish! James is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

In his post fight interview, Heinz Volker started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
