Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Gage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Werdumov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gage misses with a head kick.
Gage misses with a body kick.
Gage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Werdumov throws a one two combo.
Gage smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Werdumov tries to clinch up.
Werdumov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gage.
Werdumov explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gage takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Werdumov instigates a clinch.
Werdumov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gage misses the shot to the body.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Werdumov.
Gage is breathing heavily.
Werdumov throws a head kick but Gage moves out of range.
Werdumov lands a big head kick that sends Gage tumbling to the mat! Werdumov takes a step backwards and waves Gage back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Gage is rocked!
It looks like Stan Gage has been cut.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Werdumov has cracked Gage with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Werdumov lands another huge swinging hook and Gage tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Gage, before Werdumov can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Fedor Werdumov!
After winning the bout, Fedor Werdumov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
