PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Bunoyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kerr has chosen Scotland The Brave [Instrumental] as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Bunoyan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tom Kerr!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bunoyan fails with the takedown.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kerr.


It looks like George Bunoyan has been cut.
Kerr sizes up Bunoyan with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bunoyan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kerr avoids the head kick by Bunoyan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bunoyan gets caught napping as Kerr dives in and scores a takedown. Bunoyan manages to retain guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bunoyan controls Kerr momentarily but Kerr frees himself.

Bunoyan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kerr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kerr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kerr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kerr looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bunoyan working a defensive guard but Kerr passes into half guard.
Kerr is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Bunoyan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bunoyan tries to get out of the position.
Bunoyan is looking to control Kerr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bunoyan avoid being mounted?
Kerr perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kerr fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Bunoyan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Kerr actively working from the bottom here.

Bunoyan is looking for a kimura here.
Kerr wants to get back to full guard.
Kerr is holding on to half guard well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kerr keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bunoyan is pressing down on Kerr's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kerr is holding on for now.
Kerr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bunoyan wants to control but Kerr is keeping him busy.

Bunoyan stops Kerr from standing up.

Kerr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kerr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bunoyan is trying to maintain the position but Kerr is very close to passing his half guard.
Kerr seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kerr is trying to control. Bunoyan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kerr takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Bunoyan is refusing to be controlled, as Kerr sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kerr keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Bunoyan takes a jab right on the kisser.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bunoyan.
Bunoyan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kerr bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Bunoyan's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kerr lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Kerr shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bunoyan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kerr wants to pass the guard but Bunoyan is keeping the position.
Kerr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bunoyan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bunoyan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kerr with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tom Kerr has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bunoyan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kerr controls the pace.
Kerr works over Bunoyan with some ground and pound from guard.
Kerr scoring with punches to the head and body.
Bunoyan is trying to keep Kerr in close.
Kerr looking to pass the guard.
Bunoyan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kerr makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Kerr working some strikes from top position.
Kerr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kerr passes Bunoyan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bunoyan on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.


George Bunoyan's cut is getting worse.
Kerr is looking to take a break and control but Bunoyan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kerr passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bunoyan!
Bunoyan is trying to stand up.

Bunoyan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kerr lands a big shot there that rocks Bunoyan but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


George Bunoyan's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Jeez, George Bunoyan's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at George Bunoyan's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Tom Kerr!
Tom Kerr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
