Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brice Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warsaw Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Brice Bailey has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brice Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Warsaw Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phillips gets the takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Phillips working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Phillips is chipping away with strikes.
Phillips blocks the strikes from Bailey.
Phillips looking to control but instead Bailey has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Phillips is nestled in close to Bailey, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Bailey punching from the bottom.
Bailey is looking to control Phillips's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bailey avoid being mounted?
Bailey works his way to full guard. Good work.
Phillips pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bailey is keeping the position for now.

Phillips postures up.
Phillips really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bailey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Phillips cracks Bailey with a solid left hand.

Bailey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phillips gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bailey keeping moving, preventing Phillips from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Phillips accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bailey throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Phillips escapes and throws Bailey's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Bailey is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Bailey is trying to improve his position.
Phillips creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Phillips throws a strike aimed at the side of Bailey's head but Bailey avoids it well.
Bailey dodges the ground and pound from Phillips.
Bailey sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Phillips is looking to take a break and control but Bailey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Still in half guard, Phillips seems content to control.
Bailey slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Phillips trying to control the position from guard on top but Bailey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Phillips must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Phillips slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Warsaw Phillips was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Bailey with a poor takedown

and Phillips counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Phillips stands and throws Bailey's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Phillips looks up at the clock and then as Bailey takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Phillips smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Bailey takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bailey sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Warsaw Phillips dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Phillips throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Brice Bailey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bailey is trying hard to land a takedown here. Phillips sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bailey throws a nice looking combination but Phillips bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bailey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bailey moves to clinch but Phillips breaks away
and Phillips counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bailey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Phillips swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Phillips counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brice Bailey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Phillips seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bailey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Phillips looks to land a strike but Bailey avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Bailey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Phillips defends well.
Phillips keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bailey's head.
Phillips distracts Bailey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bailey looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Phillips postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Phillips throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bailey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Phillips wants to pass the guard but Bailey is keeping the position.
Phillips trying to control but Bailey is working from the bottom.
Phillips is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Phillips stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bailey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phillips wants to control from the top but Bailey keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Warsaw Phillips.
Phillips uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bailey.
Bailey moves out of range of the strikes.

Phillips shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bailey manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bailey is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Phillips rolls with it to try and escape but Bailey cranks on the arm and Phillips is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
