PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lamar Arrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fox comes to the cage accompanied by Cant Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr.. Arrington is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Flesh of My Flesh. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Fox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lamar Arrington!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arrington looks to score with a jab to the body but Fox is just out of range.

It looks like Brian Fox has been cut.
Arrington stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Fox.
Arrington takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Arrington misses with an uppercut.
Fox lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fox avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fox displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Fox moves out of range of the body kick from Arrington.
Arrington throws a half hearted mid kick.
Arrington tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fox paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Arrington misses with a combination

and Fox counters by clinching up.
Arrington throws a punch but it's blocked by Fox.
Fox blocking some punches.
Arrington swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Arrington breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A low kick from Arrington misses

and Fox counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Arrington's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Fox working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fox throws a strike but Arrington rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Fox wants to stand and escape but Arrington is having none of it.
Fox wants to sweep here but Arrington controlling him for the moment.
Arrington not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fox thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fox looking for a sweep. Not yet Fox, not yet.
Arrington postures up.

Fox looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Arrington passes into half guard.
Arrington tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fox knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fox tries to roll over but Arrington keeps him under control.
Fox is looking to get back to full guard here but Arrington has managed to pass to side control instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox tries to hold on but Arrington postures up.
Fox reaches up to try and control the position but Arrington seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Fox rolls and tries to escape and now Arrington has his back!
Fox is really stuck here.
Fox is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Fox is breathing heavily.
Fox is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Arrington keeps control of the position as Fox tries to break free.
What can Fox do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Fox turns into Arrington and is now in his guard.
Fox wants to pass the guard but Arrington is keeping the position.
Arrington pulls Fox in close to his closed guard and prevents Fox from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Fox dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brian Fox's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Arrington clinches but Fox breaks the clinch
and Fox counters with a nice low kick that buckles Arrington's knee momentarily.
Arrington throws a sloppy head kick

and Fox counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fox has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Arrington works to full guard.
Arrington is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Fox throws and elbow that misses. Arrington uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fox's guard. Nice move by Arrington!
Fox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Arrington passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arrington sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Arrington tries to pass to full mount but Fox defends it.

Arrington postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Fox to stand up.
Lamar Arrington is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Arrington throws a leg kick that misses.
Arrington tries to clinch there but Fox circles away.

Arrington clinches up with Fox and pushes him back against the cage.
Arrington misses with some punches.
with the fighters clinched against the cage, Arrington creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Brian Fox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Arrington tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Fox counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Arrington keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Fox missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Arrington manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fox trying to control the position from guard on top but Arrington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox tries to free his leg and advance position but Arrington is retaining full guard.
Fox trying to control but Arrington is working from the bottom.
Fox throwing strikes from guard but Arrington blocks nicely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fox accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fox misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Arrington keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Arrington fails with an attempt to clinch.
Arrington throws a shot to the body.
Arrington lands a with a good body shot.
A head kick by Arrington - that's a beauty! Fox is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Arrington can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Lamar Arrington!
