Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Mayzing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Albert Steptoe!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayzing tries to clinch there but Steptoe circles away.
Mayzing shoots in and drives through. Steptoe sprawls well.
Mayzing misses with a series of wild punches.
Mayzing changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steptoe tries to avoid it but Mayzing manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steptoe to the ground. Steptoe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mayzing shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Steptoe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Mayzing. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Steptoe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Mayzing will probably get the nod.

That was a close second round but I would say that Johnny Mayzing will probably get the nod.

Steptoe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mayzing gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mayzing throws a strike but Steptoe rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Steptoe works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Steptoe wants to pass to mount but Mayzing is defending the position.

Steptoe seems to be working for a kimura but Mayzing defends the submission attempt.

Steptoe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mayzing defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mayzing makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Mayzing throws a right and a left that both miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mayzing. Steptoe does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Steptoe makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Steptoe displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mayzing.

Steptoe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mayzing to the ground. Steptoe is now in Mayzing's guard.

Steptoe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Steptoe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Albert Steptoe.
Well Mayzing has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
