PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clayton Kosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kosh has chosen Song 2 as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clayton Kosh!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kosh fails in his attempt to clinch.
Liddell fails with a takedown attempt.
Kosh throws a low kick but Liddell avoids it.
Kosh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liddell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kosh somewhat.
Liddell misses with a double jab.
Liddell with a lazy takedown attempt
and Kosh counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kosh misses with a takedown attempt - Liddell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kosh showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Liddell.
Liddell misses with an uppercut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Liddell. Kosh does a little dance to reset his feet.
Liddell dives in and grabs Kosh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kosh pushes down on Liddell's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Liddell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kosh works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like Shane Liddell has been cut.

Kosh throws a push kick but Liddell slaps the foot to one side.
Liddell throws a big shot that misses.
Shane Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kosh throws a half hearted mid kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kosh.
Liddell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kosh counters with a body kick.
Liddell is breathing heavily.

Kosh tries for a takedown but Liddell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kosh throws a nice looking combination but Liddell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Liddell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kosh manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kosh motions for Liddell to come forward. Kosh throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Liddell tries to close the distance and clinch but Kosh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kosh gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kosh swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Kosh misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kosh swats away the attempt to clinch by Liddell.
Liddell throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kosh throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Kosh misses with a series of wild punches.
Kosh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kosh throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Liddell.
Kosh tries to close the distance and clinch up but Liddell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Liddell uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kosh.
Liddell connects with an inside leg kick.
Kosh throws a push kick but Liddell slaps the foot to one side.
Kosh on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Liddell. Liddell obviously looking to wear him down.
Kosh throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Liddell blocks a head kick by Kosh.
A punch combination from Liddell misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Liddell.
Liddell feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kosh's calf.
Kosh blocks a head kick by Liddell.

Kosh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kosh showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Liddell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kosh.
Kosh thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Liddell's head.
Kosh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kosh is keen to just control but Liddell is a slippery customer.

Kosh throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kosh gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Kosh throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Liddell is looking to clinch.
Kosh misses with a kick to the body
and Liddell counters with an inside leg kick.
Liddell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kosh's waist but Kosh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Liddell off to one side.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Liddell throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Kosh shoots in for a takedown but Liddell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Liddell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kosh lands with a slapping head kick.


Shane Liddell's cut is getting worse.
Liddell throws a body kick that misses.
Kosh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liddell pinned against the cage. Liddell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clayton Kosh dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shane Liddell's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kosh checks a leg kick nicely.
Liddell blocks a head kick by Kosh.
Liddell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Liddell moves out of range of the body kick from Kosh.
Liddell scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Liddell moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Liddell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No luck for Liddell with that takedown attempt.
Shane Liddell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kosh throws a nice inside leg kick.
Liddell takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Liddell chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kosh can pounce on him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Liddell takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Liddell works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Clayton Kosh seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kosh moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Kosh swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Crunch! Kosh slams his shin into Liddell's torso.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice defenses there by Liddell.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kosh looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Liddell. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Kosh lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Liddell on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
A solid body kick from Kosh.

Liddell gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kosh trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Liddell wants to stand and escape but Kosh is having none of it.

Kosh advances position into side control!
Kosh trying to control the action but Liddell is working from the bottom.
Liddell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kosh on the ground.

Kosh is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Liddell is trying to escape and Kosh transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Liddell is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kosh! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Clayton Kosh!
Clayton Kosh seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
